TITLE: Pharmacist
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To dispense medications to patient care units in a state-operated hospital setting; to review the appropriateness of physicians’ orders for medications to be dispensed, including patient allergies, sensitivities, drug interactions, proper dosage, frequency, route of administration, indication, and therapeutic duplication; to maintain accurate records of controlled medication inventory; to properly store and maintain medications and to separate and discard outdated medication; to repackage and properly label drugs received in bulk quantities; to interact collaboratively with medical and nursing staff in providing optimal medication therapy to patients; to perform tasks in compliance with Joint Commission standards and other applicable federal and state regulations; to do related work as required.
